Barn Dance This usually applied to the English style dance with a caller calling throughout the dance. The dances can be largely from anywhere in the world, as can the tunes. It is an invented style for most events such as parties or wedding receptions. Sometimes people like to theme these events and dress up in cowboy gear etc. The choice is yours. Ceilidh As the name suggests, this is a celtic style event with either an Irish or Scottish flavour, as both nationalities use the same word. Ceilidh literally means a gathering traditionally with songs, tunes, stories or anything that was entertaining. Now it tends to just mean a dance with a caller calling the dances. [top] |
